How we count visitors
We would like to know how many people visit, which pages they read and roughly where in the world they are, so we can tell whether any of this is working. That is the entire ambition.
We count those visits without using cookies. Nothing is saved to your device, nothing identifies you personally, and there is no way for us, or anyone else, to recognise you on another website. So there is nothing here for you to accept, decline or switch off.
What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No social media tracking pixels.
- No sharing of your browsing with data brokers or ad networks.
- No cookies at all on the invitation form itself. Your email goes straight to our database and nothing is stored in your browser.
Why there is no cookie banner
You have probably noticed we did not interrupt you with a wall of buttons on arrival. That is not an oversight, and it is not us cutting a corner.
Those banners exist because most sites set cookies that follow you around and build a profile for advertisers, and the law quite rightly says you must agree to that first. We do not set any cookies of that kind, so there is nothing to ask you about. The only thing running is the security check on the invitation form, which protects something you have actively asked to use.
If we ever add something that genuinely does require your permission, we will ask you properly, and declining will be exactly as easy as accepting.
Turning them off in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a site directly. It is usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies from autoswitch.ie will not stop you using the site or requesting an invitation.
If you use a tracker blocker, an ad blocker, or a browser like Firefox or Safari with tracking protection switched on, that will already be blocking our analytics. We are not going to try to work around that.
